I actually flew La Premiere last year through a way I hardly ever see detailed on any blogs: While I recognize most people won’t fit into that Elite category but another way is for Delta Platinum and Diamond elite members to redeem Global Upgrade certificates as their choice benefits.
1. Step 1: Qualify for Platinum or Diamond on Delta airlines.
2. Pick Global Upgrade certificates as your Choice Benefits
3. Call Delta to check for Upgrade availability using Global upgrade certificates between NY & Paris on Air France flights with La Premiere Cabins.
4. Book Premium economy/Premium select on a flight with La Premiere Cabin & have Delta apply Global Upgrade certificate to upgrade to Business class.
5. Try your luck and hope there’s a La Premiere seat available on the flight and pay for the upgrade. In my case, the offer from Business to La Premiere was $2,000.
I did this before Delta switched to the one-cabin upgrade restriction so I was able to book an economy ticket, upgrade it to business class using a Global upgrade certificate and pay $2,000 to upgrade to La Premiere. Pretty much paid less than $4K for a $8K-12K experience!
