While Staybridge Suites may not be the most glamorous brand within the IHG Hotels & Resorts family, it’s an essential option for travelers looking to check in for an extended period of time without breaking the bank.

Staybridge Suites is classified as an upscale IHG hotel brand, though the term “upscale” here is relative. Staybridge Suites is a step above the more midscale Candlewood Suites, IHG’s other extended-stay chain. However, the brand is far more affordable less upscale than, say, any InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property.

Like Candlewood Suites, Staybridge Suites is an all-suite, residential-style hotel chain that targets mostly corporate and long-term travelers with its convenient amenities, spacious and well-equipped guest rooms, and seamless service. However, a few key differences set it apart from its competitors.

Let’s take a look at what can be expected from a stay at a Staybridge Suites property.

Everything You Need To Know About Staybridge Suites

The first Staybridge Suites hotel opened in 1998 in Alpharetta, Georgia. It would be another 10 years before the brand extended its footprint overseas with Staybridge Suites Liverpool in 2008.

There are more than 300 Staybridge Suites hotels scattered across North and South America, Mexico, and Europe, with more than 160 more in the development pipeline. Staybridge Suites generally competes with other extended-stay brands like Homewood Suites by Hilton.

Staybridge Suites is 1 of 3 extended-stay hotel brands operated by IHG, alongside Candlewood Suites (midscale) and the forthcoming Atwell Suites (upper-midscale) launching in 2022.

IHG categorizes Staybridge Suites as the most upscale of the 3 extended-stay brands due to its free hot breakfast buffet, amenities, and weekly social events that serve complimentary snacks and beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to guests.

Staybridge Suites comprise solid 3-star limited-service properties, so you can expect suite-style accommodations, fitness facilities, business centers, and on-site convenience stores, but (for the most part) no full-service restaurants, spas, or bars.

In-Suite Amenities

Every Staybridge Suites property offers 3 room categories to choose from: studio suites, 1-bedroom suites (configured with either 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds), and 2-bedroom suites.

No matter which category you choose to book, every suite comes with a full kitchen equipped with a full-size refrigerator, microwave oven, cooktop stove, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, and sink, along with work desks, ironing boards, flexible storage areas, and free Wi-Fi.

The 2-bedroom suites also feature 2 separate bathrooms, both equipped with showers.

Laundry Machines and Storage Lockers

As an extended-stay brand, Staybridge Suites often sees travelers check in for as many as 6 days (sometimes longer), which is why the brand goes go out of its way to offer additional features that other, shorter-term hotel stays don’t require.

Self-service laundry rooms are part of every Staybridge Suites hotel experience to ensure travelers stay fresh and maintain their routine even while on the road. In the same vein, flexible storage lockers are on hand for guests who require a bit more space to store bulky luggage items like bicycles or oversize suitcases.

In other words, Staybridge Suites has you covered whether you’re checking in for a long weekend or a sojourn lasting several weeks.

Hot Tip: COVID-19 has affected many services once typically offered at hotels, including Staybridge Suites. At a majority of the brand’s locations, breakfast service is limited to grab-and-go bags, evening socials are suspended, and pools remain closed. Be sure to call your specific hotel before arrival to double-check what facilities and services have been modified.

Chase IHG Rewards Credit Cards

While stays at Staybridge Suites properties are already relatively affordable, it’s possible to get even more value from your stay when you pay for your reservation using one of IHG’s co-branded credit cards.

Every purchase made, whether you’re paying for an overnight hotel stay or a weeks’ worth of groceries from your local supermarket, earns IHG One Rewards points that can be redeemed for reward stays at any Staybridge Suites location.

As soon as you sign up any of these cards, you’ll automatically gain access to a handful of perks at Staybridge Suites hotels — the best of which are exclusive member rates and the ability to redeem reward nights.

Cardholders also automatically receive IHG One Rewards elite status (Platinum Elite with the IHG Premier card and IHG Premier Business card, and Silver Elite with the IHG Traveler card).

The most popular and highly searched Staybridge Suites hotels tend to be concentrated in major cities and resort towns close to major attractions. Let’s check them out!

13. Staybridge Suites Anaheim at the Park (California)

The lobby at Staybridge Suites Anaheim at the Park. Image Credit: IHG

As its name suggests, Staybridge Suites Anaheim at the Park sits right off Disneyland Drive and within sight of Disneyland — an unbeatable location for park-goers. To that end, this hotel is closer in distance than the nearby Staybridge Suites Anaheim-Resort Area, which sits farther down I-5.

As such, the hotel is a perfect base for families and groups looking to post up for a few days and take advantage of the area’s attractions, which, aside from Disneyland itself, also includes Disney California Adventure Park, the Honda Center, Angel Stadium, and, for business travelers, the Anaheim Convention Center (just a 5-minute drive south).

A guest room at Staybridge Suites Des Moines Downtown. Image Credit: IHG

At the hotel, 24-hour fitness and business centers and self-service laundry facilities complement free Wi-Fi, daily hot breakfast, and evening socials. The heated outdoor pool and hot tub are seasonal, and there is a complimentary airport shuttle available for getting to and from Lincoln Airport (LNK). This hotel is also pet-friendly.

Reward night stays at this property can be redeemed for 12,500 to 15,000 IHG One Rewards points. Paid rates, on average, hover around $110 for a standard suite.

Final Thoughts

Extended-stay hotels aren’t for everyone. Although Staybridge Suites locations feature on-site convenience stores, you won’t find a full restaurant or bar. Unless you’re comfortable cooking in your room every night or venturing off-property for your next meal, you might want to reconsider your options.

That said, for independent travelers seeking a home away from home for a few days or more, Staybridge Suites is a solid choice.

Guest rooms are spacious, well-kept, and up to date, essential services include laundry rooms and on-site convenience stores, and rates include free perks few other hotel brands provide, including complimentary hot breakfast every morning and evening social hours multiple times a week.

Let’s not forget Staybridge Suites’ competitive rates. For IHG One Rewards members that redeem their earned points for a reward night stay, these suites can offer superior value.
